SACRED HEART FAMILIES is a network of Catholic families in the Columbus, Ohio, area who are striving to live the Gospel of Life through various spiritual, social, or homeschooling activities. This e-mail list and website provide a means by which parents can communicate with and support one another, post information about activities, and share ideas and resources.
Most of our families are homeschooling. Some have older children who have entered the Catholic schools or a private or public school while the younger children continue to be educated at home. Some are “quasi-homeschooling” — their children are at home but enrolled in an online public charter school; some have chosen one of the small parent-operated Catholic schools which are homeschooler-friendly. And some are “homeschooling alumni” — they have completed their home education but remain within this circle of friends. But all the families share a common belief that parents are the primary educators of their children regardless of where the children are schooled. With this in mind, all families are encouraged to share items of interest which would help cultivate Catholic values, traditions, and culture in the home, or would assist families in homeschooling or in other areas of education and family life.
May God continue to bless the good work He began so many years ago with just a few homeschooling families, and may we all continue to pray for one another in charity and with humble hearts.
We have a child in our group who has life-threatening nut allergies, so as an act of mercy and love we abstain from nut products on days when we gather for activities. Whatsoever you do to the least of these, you do unto Me.
